Plastering…..what to expect

Having workmen in your home can be daunting. You may not be sure what access the workmen will need to your home or how much of your home will be affected. Having a little information before hand can help with the smooth running of the job.

What you can do……

1. If having a wall re-plastered please make sure all wallpaper is removed fully.
2. clear as much as possible such as furniture etc out of room to allow plasterer more room to work and to protect your belongings.
3. if having other work carried out in your home it is best to have plasterwork done before having new flooring laid but after electrics or raggling has been completed.
4. Ideally heating should be turned off as this effects the drying of plaster and overall finish.
5. Provide plasterer access to running water.

What the plasterer will do….

1. Will arrive promptly and set up work area with dust sheets to protect your home. This includes any hallways or entrances that the plasterer will be using when going to and from his van.
2. He will loosen light switches and plug sockets and cover with masking tape to ensure no edges around the fittings are left unplastered and no fittings come into contact with plaster material.
3. before plastering the area will be surveyed for cracks which can be covered with fibre tape before plastering to achieve a bond and protect the crack from re surfacing.
4. Polybond will be applied to pre-plastered area
5. The plasterwork will be then be carried out.
6. plasterer will polish walls to a shine ready for decorating.
7. plasterer will hoover and tidy his work area to the standard it was found.

• Rubble and waste removal can be arranged at a surcharge.
• please allow plasterwork to fully dry before attempting to decorate.
